Kathleen Curran

Kathleen A. Curran is a global coach, consultant and trainer. Through her results-oriented coaching, she has successfully facilitated client’s cultivation of global leadership competencies, and helped them build strategies for achieving innovation and business objectives across cultures and distance.  She is the founder and principal of Intercultural Systems, established in Singapore in 1996 and operating in both Asia and the US. 

Kathleen’s areas of specialization include multicultural teambuilding, global leadership development, and cross-cultural management– basically, making things happen effectively and inclusively across cultures and in the global context!  She is especially effective at creating learning events for global team kick-off and alignment and customized “temperature-taking” team assessment tools.

Kathleen is actively involved in the development of processes that capture and capitalize on international /intercultural experience for both individuals and organizations, supporting a return on investment for each and building the truly global organization in mindset, strategy, system and practice. 

She has worked extensively with individuals and organizations in Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and other countries of the Asian region, as well as Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and the USA.  She is proud to include the following among her clients: Agilent Japan; Hewlett-Packard; Pfizer Pharmaceuticals; Discovery Channel-Asia; Enron International; Singapore Technologies; Singapore National Heritage Board; International Flavors and Fragrances; Federal Express; Nortel Networks; MobileOne Singapore; Melawar-Zecha, and Unocal.

What sets Kathleen apart is that her global coaching expertise has been gained through first hand experience and professional training.  She has lived in Asia since 1986, and presently maintains a dual continent life and practice.  She has worked in leadership and advisory positions in non-U.S. organizations in various countries and cultures for 9+ years, and served as liaison/advisor for the Saudi Arabian Educational Mission to the United States for 3 years, actually experiencing decision-making, motivation, communication, relationship development and how one really gets things done.  Thus, with her strategic synergy, Kathleen has found success applying her empathy, insight and results orientation to global coaching, consulting and training.

Kathleen holds an M.A. in Intercultural Communication from the University of Texas at Austin and is a graduate of Corporate Coach University.  She is a qualified administrator and interpreter of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and the Strengths Deployment Inventory (SDI).  She has held faculty positions with the Texas International Education Consortium, Institut Teknologi Mara, University of Maryland-European and Asian Divisions, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in the business and communication departments.  Previously, she worked with the Saudi Arabian Educational Mission to the United States as a government advisor and liaison.
