Marta WilliamsMarta arrived in Spain from Washington, D.C. after finishing her degree in the U.S. She married a Spaniard, has raised two Spanish-American children, and has been an active professional in Spain in the world of leadership and journalism (Resident Foreign Correspondent for abcNews from 1982 to 2004) and EL PAIS newspaper, as part of the founding team. In 1992 she added leadership to her career, co-founding The Washington Quality Group (WQG) to help develop leadership skills among Spanish executives. Using the Goldsmith methodology, WQG has worked for hundreds of Spanish and multinational companies, using as supporting instruments Feedback 360º and coaching. WQG is the pioneer in this field in Spain, and the group has coached more than 5000 executives. WQG founded The Institute of Coaching in 2001, the first school to teach and certify coaches in Spain, and one of the first in Europe.
In 2001 Marta was awarded Honourable Mention by the Spanish Federation of Women Executives (FEDEPE) as one of the notable women in Spain. Every year since 1997, Marta and WQG have done a pro-bono project with at least one NGO, such as CARE International, The Study Center Foundation, and others. She is a member of the Leader to Leader Network (previously the Drucker Foundation), The Association for Strategic Leadership, Alexcel, The World Association of Business Coaches, and is certified by Marshall Goldsmith, Birkman, selected as a coach by Marshall Goldsmith Partners, faculty member and coach for the Global Institute for Leadership Development (GILD) in the USA, and Master Coach for Linkage.
Long interested in the evolution of leadership, she has presented the results of her studies with various clients such as Siemens and Telefónica at The Conference Board New York and Linkage Europe, as well as many groups in Spain. She teaches courses in Leadership and Coaching at the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, where she is also a co-director of the Mentoring Program for LiderA (a special program for high potential Spanish women), the University of Alcala de Henares, and next year will teach at the Francisco Vitoria University in Madrid. She has taught at various universities in Latin America, including the Universidad Javierana of Bogotá, the Universidad de Ricardo Palma in Peru, where WQG has one of its international offices.
Marta has a B.A. in History, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Wilson College USA; and a Master in Television Journalism, CEV, Spain.
